From the Guide

The Author
Pilgrim, guidebook author, and practical Camino mentor.
Mark O'Sullivan has spent years walking, studying, and, most importantly, helping first-time pilgrims prepare for the Camino de Santiago. His approach is simple: the best pilgrimage is the one you finish comfortably, and that outcome is decided before you reach your starting point.
After his own early Caminos taught him the difference between a well-prepared walker and one who simply hopes for the best, Mark began sharing the training plans, packing lists, gear checks, and route advice that now sit at the heart of his books. Every recommendation has been tested on the trail, refined through conversation with fellow pilgrims, and shaped by a single question: “What do I wish I had known before my first step?”
Through his writing and direct guidance, Mark has helped thousands of pilgrims avoid the classic mistakes: overloaded packs, wrong footwear, rushed training, and ignored early warnings. That way they can focus on what the Camino is really about. The Camino is an outer and inner journey: the landscape, the community, and the steady rhythm of one foot in front of the other. It can change your life.
“My goal is to hand every pilgrim the briefing I never had: clear, honest, and focused on the small decisions that make or break your Camino.”
Read it on a phone, a tablet, or hold it in your hand. Either way, your feet will thank you.
